ABOUT

PAUL GUNN
Paul Gunn’s career has led him to specialize increasingly in artistic photography and film. In particular Gunn is interested in exploring the nuances and vulnerabilities of masculinity and exploitation, which he portrays from an almost autobiographical perspective.

Most recently his work has been featured in such publications as Supplementiare, Client, East Village Boys, Ticketohell, DNA, Marie Claire and Cleo magazine as well as the Mix23 New York Film festival.

Much of Gunn’s commercial work has been in Australia and he looks forward to the time spent in the US to further explore more forward themes and projects. He has ‘been interested for a while in things that are usually considered disturbing or taboo portrayed as exciting or erotic”. Influential to him is the work of Francis Bacon and the grotesque beauty of his work. The biggest challenge has been to balance being a commercial photographer and not letting anything too advanced, erotic or conceptual influence mainstream clients.
